A picture taken by Christine Page

Nothing illustrates the beauty of Sardinia better than this picture taken by Christine, who I met on the last day of the trip.

My theory is safe.

Would you believe it?

Yesterday at the Anglo American language school I met a girl who said she was from Paisley. Today at the airport I start a conversation with a couple who sound Scottish. It turns out they recognise me. Obviously because I'm a big time comic back home they know my work.... that's the only reason they can know who I am.

So who do I give the tenner to?

So back at the airport I still owe Tuesday night's taxi driver 10 euros. I give it to the guy running the taxi stand, but I'm not entirely sure he is going to pass it on....

The Festival

And then I met Christene

Christine, a biology teacher from Limekilns was in the area studying botany - that's looking at flowers. She gave me the gen on what sound like a great local traditional religious feast day I just missed.

Is it just me, or is there something sinister about their flag?

Blue note Buffet

This place was fantastic! If you do go to Cagliari you must have lunch here. When I was there it was 10 euros for an all you can eat buffet, but the variety and quality of the food on offer is more than I could ever have imagined. This is me pictured with the owner. Every plat and more behind is filled with mouthwatering Mediteranian fare. It's a must. You can get a better idea of their offering by going to http://www.bluebuffet.it/

They've got it!!!

I don't think he got the concept of haggis. If you want to know how to make haggis go and look at my blog www.haggismaking.blogspot.com.

Ahh ... piza

A new day...

Some things I can't do

Haggis flavoured pizza?

The widest variety of pizza on the island I'm told, but no haggis flavour

This is what it did to the last customer

Tennants Super Lager on tap??

Is it really Tennent's Super lager on tap? Apparently Italians think it's quite sophisticated. I only drank half of the half pint I ordered, not because I can't handle my drink, but to me it tasted like Super cat's piss.

Two for the price of one!

There were actually four Scots working at the Anglo American school. here are two more. Alistair is from Skye and misses the craic, food and Chick young. He pointed me towards a sophisticated bar that sells Tennant's Super Lager on tap!
Rachel is half Italian, half Scottish brought up in Paisley, Texas, Rome and Sardinia. Famous locally for organising Sardinia's first and only kilted wedding. More about her later....

I'm the king of the castle

Not my best moment, but I was knackered climbing that hill. Anyhoo, I think I'm in charge now.

So where now?

Not everyone was so enthusiastic

Needed a bit of help. I think he was from Fife.

Just when I thought it was safe!

So what do Sardinians think of StJohnstone FC?

Come on the Saints!

There's no such thing as a ginger Italian!

...or is there?

The Amphitheatre

I was there and told a crap joke. I had to do it outside because the gates were locked and there was no way inside. Apparently they only open it in the summer for the tourists. Summer?!! It was fecking swealtering heat. Check the sweat on my forehead! I felt like a turkey on Christmas Eve!

Success!

These guys were much nicer

They threw me out...

However there must be some other English language schools in Cagliari...

Wall St - Don't know if I approached this right!

Ooh they weren't happy!

In the internet cafe

See... I'm not just a pervy old man taking pictures of young girls in a tammy. Omar, who looked after me in the internet cafe was realy helpfull. He didn't know any Scots, but he knew of an English guy called Wayne who teaches English at the Wall St language school.

Die Frauline

These are two lovely German girls checking in to the hostel. Does there seem to be a pattern emerging?

So who will wear the tammy?

These lovely ladies served me breakfast

Good news in the taxi
